Mrs. Pierce accompanied her husband Ammi and the three Miskatonic University professors to see the meteorite when it first fell, remarking that the fragment carried away in a pail was growing smaller and burning through its bottom.
Years later, when Nahum burst into the Pierce kitchen in Ammi's absence to report Merwin's disappearance, she listened to his desperate tale in a clutching fright and could offer no explanation for what had happened; she grew anxious when the horses and buggy later arrived home without her husband.
